I was born an artist. Making things and using my creativity has been my highest passion for as long as I can remember. I am married to the love of my life with two beautiful children, and it wasn’t until I had them that I decided to throw myself fully into the mysterious and wonderful dedication of being a full time artist. Being a mom was all I ever wanted, but at the end of the long, tiring days, I knew there was still more I wanted to do. I didn’t know where it would take me and it was nearly impossible to formulate a plan, since, as I would find out, an artists flow of success relies heavily on the support of the community.
All I knew, was that a life of art was not merely whispering for me; It was calling to me, as a demand. A demand that felt soul nourishing to obey. So, I spent 3 years painting nearly every day, teaching myself new techniques. I learned how to use oil paints. I discovered great joy in painting portraits, mainly of women, and portraits of animals. Painting became a therapy for me and a way of conveying different ideas and feelings in a poetic way. A creative container with no walls.
I started hanging and selling my art at various local restaurants, coffee shops, and galleries. Work was consistently selling and I was receiving more new commissions every month. This was incredibly exciting as I was starting to believe that a life as an artist was possible. The support I have received from the community of Salem, Or has touched me in ways I cannot fully describe.
Jump to now, and my career as an artist has led me to being a tattoo artist. Painting is my first love, but tattooing is the most wild and fulfilling journey, and one that I never expected. My first six months as a tattoo artist has been completely booked, and again, I have my community to thank for that.
